Our Story
Stag Ridge Mercantile is a small, family business located on a hobby farm nestled in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee. We bought our 20 acre slice of heaven 2018 and have been working on it every day since! Throughout the development of our property, we are learning as we go and love sharing the journey with our family and friends. Our farm has lots of animals that we love & care for every day. There is an abundance of flowers from our garden and property that we harvest and preserve to create floral art. Thanks for visiting our Stag Ridge Mercantile shop!
Anna Samstag
Hey there! My name is Anna and I am the crazy horse girl behind Stag Ridge Mercantile & Stables. I attended Clemson University for college and graduate school with degrees in Pre-Veterinary Science, Life Sciences and Microbiology. My professional career led me to be a Pharmaceutical Study Project Manager. Horses have always been my passion and I am grateful everyday that they are still such a big part of my life. Nothing beats looking out of your bedroom or kitchen window to see the horses happily grazing in the fields with a beautiful sunset in the background. If I'm not in the stables, you can probably find me in the garden growing vegetables for our kitchen and flowers for our business. In the fall of 2022 I quit my corporate job to work full-time for our Stag Ridge Mercantile floral preservation business. I haven't looked back since & feel so blessed to have a job that I love every day!
Andrew Samstag
Andrew is the brawn and brains that helps keep our little farm running smoothly every day. By trade he is a chemical engineer and worked many years for a large chemical plant in Eastern, TN. Stag Ridge Mercantile has grown so much that Andrew quit his job to work full time for the business in fall of 2023. He helps with all things business including customer service, client communication & invoicing. His spare moments are spent working on projects around the farm. He especially loves wood working and rock features. One of his long-time hobbies is restoring antique out-board motors. Tilly is by far his favorite of our animals and they have a special bond. Although Andrew did't grow up on a farm, he has quickly learned to love the lifestyle and thoroughly enjoys spending time on the tractor, managing our hay production and compost process.
